Woman Stabbed After Catching Her Boyfriend In Affair

A Spotsylvania man was charged May 11 with aggravated malicious wounding for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend at a local hotel when she caught him with another woman.

Roland Thomas Smith II, 32 of Spotsylvania was charged this weekend with aggravated malicious wounding for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend after she caught him having an affair at a local hotel.

Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office spokesman Mike Harvey said that at about 9:20 p.m. on Ma 11, deputies responded to the Econolodge Hotel at 5321 Jefferson Davis Highway for a stabbing. Deputies found a 36-year-old female holding her abdomen, and she told them that she had just been stabbed after catching him in an affair.

Witnesses pointed out Smith, who isn't hard to miss because he has dark-black tattoos on his head and face. Deputies were able to arrest Smith without incident. Harvey said Smith had blood on his hands and a knife.

The female victim was taken to a hospital to be treated for her wounds. Smith was held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
