Prince William County Police have arrested a suspect in a 2008 robbery of a Fredericksburg bank.

Police have arrested a woman they say is responsible for a 2008 bank robbery in Fredericksburg. Woodbridge resident Monique Charlton, age 35, was arrested and charged with three crimes related to the robbery of a former Provident Bank on Plank Road: entering a bank while armed, bank robbery and grand larceny.

Police say that at around 5 p.m. on Sept. 12, 2008, Charlton entered the bank and presented a note demanding cash to the bank teller. Police also say that during the robbery, Charlton brandished a handgun. The bank teller cooperated, giving Charlton an unspecified quantity of money before police say she departed the scene on foot.

A press release issued by the Fredericksbug Police Department says the the FBI established Charlton as a possible suspect after interviewing individuals who knew Charlton around the time of the robbery. Those associates identified Charlton as the suspect after viewing surveillance images taken during the bank robbery.
