Council to consider allowing jail time for panhandlers.
Among the usual budget allocations and approval of minutes at the upcoming Fredericksburg City Council meeting, they will also consider a measure which would make panhandling punishable by jail time. The council meets next Tuesday at at 7:30 p.m.
Notable Highlights:
- Former City Councilor Matthew Kelly may be making an official return to city politics if his application for a vacancy on the Economic Development Board is approved by the City Council. Also applying for two vacancies on the board are Robert Carter, Thomas Crimmins and Charles Reiche.
- Councilor Fred Howe will present a resolution encouraging participation in events commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.
- A resolution honoring Christina Skinner for her contributions to emergency medical services in the Fredericksburg region. For 11 years Skinner worked as director of the Rappahannock Emergency Medical Services Council. Skinner now works as the Emergency Medical Services Coordinator for Mary Washington Healthcare.
