Gov. McDonnell Visits Fredericksburg Business

Gov. Bob McDonnell visited Machine and Steel today on his tour of small business.

Gov. Bob McDonnell was in Fredericksburg today for his small-business tour across the state.

He stopped at the family owned business Fredericksburg Machine and Steel, met with the 10 employees and owner Don Breivik and his son, Luke, who is the plant manager. Luke Breivik said the National Federation of Independent Business contacted them about having McDonnell visit. Machine and Steel is a member of the NFIB.

"He was here for about an hour, he met each of the employees individually," Luke Breivik said. "We explained to him what kind of work we do here in general. It was just an opportunity to show him what kind of work we do."

Luke Breivik said the governor talked about the economy and how the state's unemployment is dropping and that small businesses are the lifeblood for the state.

"It was motivational for the employees to meet him and see him and him show an interest in their work," he said.
