NWS Issues Winter Storm Warning

The warning includes the City of Fredericksburg and the counties of Spotsylvania and Stafford.

Fredericksburg Christian Schools announced all campuses are closing at 12:40 p.m. due to the weather forecast.  All after school activities have been cancelled.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning from 2 p.m. today through 1 a.m. Friday, predicting snow, heavy at times, with accumulations from three to six inches.

"Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous," the NWS said.  "Only travel in an emergency.  If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency."

Fredericksburg City Public Schools reports it is currently operating on schedule, but advises parents to be prepared for early closings if changing weather conditions warrant. All after-school activities have been cancelled.

All City of Fredericksburg Parks and Recreation activities and programs scheduled after 4 p.m. are cancelled for today.
