Police Expect 'Concert Like Traffic' for Ryan Event

Republican Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan will speak in Fredericksburg Tuesday evening.

, will campaign in Fredericksburg on Oct. 16. Country music singer Collin Raye will be Ryan’s special guest.

The event has been moved to the Fredericksburg Expo and Conference Center instead of Celebrate Virginia Live (CVL), according to the Fredericksburg Police Department. Both are located at 2371 Carl D. Silver Pkwy. Doors open at 4 p.m. The event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

"We will have extra officers on duty for traffic and security as needed, however we do not expect this event to have any more impact on the area than the concerts which were held at the CVL site all summer," said Natatia Bledsoe, Public Information Officer for the Fredericksburg Police Department. "There are no planned road closures."

Police advise attendees to use Gordon Shelton Boulevard off Fall Hill Avenue to access the venue. Gates will open at 1:30 p.m.  There will be normal security precautions at the access points, such as metal detector devices and the hand checking of bags and purses.  Cameras are permitted, according to the Romney campaign.
