Public Comment Sought on I-95 Study

If you can't make this week's public information meeting, VDOT is also accepting email, snail mail comments.

The Virginia Department of Transportation is soliciting input from area residents and motorists on how best to expand I-95 between Route 17 in Stafford County and Route 3 in Fredericksburg.

The study will analyze the impacts of a variety of access and capacity improvements, including a new highway interchange between Route 17 and Route 3.

The Virginia Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration will be holding a Citizen Information Meeting to seek comment from the public on the I-95 access study. The meeting is from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011 at the Salem Church Public Library on 2607 Salem Church Road in Spotsylvania County, 22407.


Attendees will be able to review maps and other documents related to the study. VDOT staff and consultants will also be on hand to answer questions at take input.

If you can't make the meeting, VDOT is also soliciting comment on proposed improvements through email at FredericksburgInfo@vdot.virginia.gov.

Comments may also be snail mailed to Nick Nies, VDOT Project Manager, 1201 E. Broad Street, Richmond Va. 23219.

The public comment period officially ends on Monday Dec. 26, 2011.

VDOT has also set up a website providing information on the I-95 access study. The site includes documents which will be displayed and discussed at this week's VDOT meeting.
