Wow! The William H. Rice House on Caroline Street

The Victorian house is in need of TLC, but has spectacular potential.

Wow!  There it was as I drove back into downtown Fredericksburg on Dixon Street -- a grand dame of a house, standing vacant and ... for sale!  Oh that I had a surplus of cash.

Built in 1909 for freight agent William H. Rice, the house at 201 Caroline St. is an incredible opportunity for restoration.  The 3,505 square-foot, four bedroom Victorian is in foreclosure, having last sold in 2005 for just over $1 million, according to Zillow

The lender, now owner, has it listed for $569,900.  Zillow's foreclosure estimate predicts it will sell for $520,714.

The house is registered with the Historic Fredericksburg Foundation.  See the Zillow listing for interior photographs.
