Mary Washington Hires Familiar Face

Richard R. Pearce can take the acting out of his title at the University of Mary Washington. University officials announced today that Pearce has been named vice president for administration and finance, a job that he had been serving in an acting capacity since last year.

Pearce is also the treasurer of the UMW Foundation, a nonprofit that benefits the university. 

As the university's chief financial officer, Pearce is in charge of all of the capital projects, as well as directing the departments of public safety and community services, human resources and business operations.

Pearce has been employed at the university since 1998. Prior to coming to the university, Pearce wasn't far away from Fredericksburg. He was the dean of administration and finance at Germanna Community College.

Pearce is president of the Fredericksburg Boys and Girls Club and treasurer of the Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center. He also is a member of the Rappahannock Rotary and the Rappahannock United Way Finance Committee.
