Teacher Work Day at City Schools Monday
Teacher work day, PTA meeting and Family Life curriculum review next week.
Students of Fredericksburg City Public Schools have no classes Monday, due to a teacher work day. Classes resume Jan. 29.
Hugh Mercer Elementary School
The P.E. department is offering two Family Life curriculum preview sessions 8 - 11 a.m. and 1 - 3 p.m. Jan. 28, according to the Dec. - Jan. newsletter. For those parents who choose, opt-out forms are available through the P. E. department.

Lafayette Upper Elementary School
The PTA of Lafayette Upper Elementary School will hold its next meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the library on Tuesday, Jan. 29.

LUES recycles printer cartridges. The school asks those with used cartridges at home to donate them in the school's office.
Walker Grant Middle School
Grade-Level Spelling Bee winners were congratulated in the school newsletter. Each will participate in the Division Bee held Feb. 4 at Lafayette Upper Elementary School. The winners are:
6th Grade – First Place: Bronson McLeod; Runner-Up: Jasmine Wagner
7th Grade – First Place: Meg Walsh; Runners-Up: KaLeigh Taylor and Rawley Gardner
8th Grade – First Place: Libby Walsh; Runner-Up: Tristan Stout
James Monroe High School
Thirty-four new members were inducted into the JMHS Chapter of the National Honor Society, bringing the chapter’s total to 63 members, according to a story in the school's Jan. newsletter.
