UMW Men's Hoops Keep Playoff Hopes Alive

UMW hoops win 104-88 at Stevenson University

Junior guard Mike Harvey scored a team-high 21 points as the University of Mary Washington men's basketball team earned a 104-88 victory at Stevenson University on Wednesday night in Capital Athletic Conference action. The Eagles keep their hopes alive for the fourth seed in next week's CAC Tournament, improving to 14-9 overall and 8-7 in league play.

Harvey led the Eagles with 21 points on 7-9 shooting from the floor. Also in double figures for UMW were freshman guards Bradley Riester, E.J. Willis, and Walt Smith. Riester scored 19 points, while Willis scored 18 and grabbed 12 rebounds. Smith had 18 points, six assists and four steals. UMW had 22 steals in all, as Qaiser Ahmed led the team with five takeaways.

For the game, the Eagles shot a blistering 57% from the floor, including 9-16 three pointers. The Mustangs shot 39%, and held a decisive 52-34 rebounding advantage.

Mary Washington will host Wesley College on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in the regular season finale.
