Fourth of July in Fredericksburg: Heritage Festival Schedule

Annual event begins with Five-Mile Run in the morning and ends with fireworks.

Fredericksburg's Heritage Festival returns this year for a day full of events in downtown Fredericksburg, ending with fireworks along the riverfront.

From 5 a.m. to 5 p.m., the 600, 700, and 800 blocks of Sophia Street, the 100 block of Charlotte Street and the 100 block of Hanover Street will be closed to all traffic.

The Heritage Festival Five-Mile Run begins at 7:45 a.m., with registration at 6:30 a.m. at the Fredericksburg Visitor Center, 706 Caroline Street.

The Heritage Day Parade begins at 9:30 a.m., with a route from Lafayette to Caroline to Princess Anne and back to Lafayette. Prizes will be awarded for best costume and most creative bicycle.

The Festival of the Streets will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be classic cars on display, the Heritage Festival Craft Show, live music, a dunk tank, face painting, a moon bounce and more. There will also be a trolley shuttling to Ferry Farm for 4th of July events.

The Rappahannock River Raft Race starts at 11 a.m., beginning at Falmouth Waterfront Park and ending at the City Dock.

Pratt Park opens at 4:30 p.m. Food vendors will be available. Quantico Marine Corps Rock and Roll Band will be performing beginning at 6:30 p.m. with Patrick A'Hearn and the cast of Riverside Theater's West Side Story through the fireworks presentation.

The Fredericksburg Community Concert Band will be performing it's "Made in America!" concert in the Market Square beginning at 5 p.m.

Fireworks
are planned at approximately 9:15 p.m. They can be viewed from Pratt Park or Old Mill Park. No alcoholic beverage, sparklers or grills. Dogs must be on leashes.
