10 Things to Do This Weekend

Activities and events in the Fredericksburg area May 17 - 19, 2013.

1 - Greek Festival at Nativity of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church,  3 - 10 p.m. Friday; 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. Saturday; 12 p.m. - 7 p.m. Sunday. Food, dancing, Kidz Zone, church tours, merchandise.  Free admission.

2 - Patriot Park Amphitheater Concert Friday. Gates open at 6 p.m., concert at 7 p.m.  Admission $5 for adults, kids 12 and under $2.  This week's performance by SonRise.

3 - Sounds of Summer in Market Square, 7 p.m. Friday. Presented by the Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center. Free.  As part of the evening, the museum offers free, extended hours from 5 - 9 p.m., a member’s reception and activities for kids in the square.  This week's performance is by The Blue Tips Rhythm Review.

4 - Marine Corps Historic Half Marathon & Healthy Lifestyle Expo at the Fredericksburg Expo & Convention Center, 4 - 8 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. Saturday. Speakers, vendors, giveaways. Free.  Historic Half, 10K or 5K Sunday -- Wheelchair and hand cycle participants start at 6:59 a.m., runners at 7 a.m.

5 - Nature Walk at Stafford's Government Island, 9 a.m. Saturday.  Meet in the parking lot. Free.

6 - Women's Lifestyle Expo at Spotsylvania Towne Centre, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Vendors, prizes.  Free admission.

7 - National Kids to Parks Day events Saturday at Virginia State Parks, including Lake Anna State Park and Westmoreland State Park.  Click the link for a list of events throughout the day.

8 - Walking Tour of College Heights, 4 p.m. Saturday.  Sponsored by the College Heights Civic Association, in collaboration with UMW’s Department of Historic Preservation.  The one hour walk begins at the Combs Hall Parking lot off College Avenue.  Rain date: 4 p.m. Sunday. Free.

9 - Book Signing with Chef Jenn Crovato at Taste Oil Vinegar Spice, 1 - 3 p.m. Sunday.  Come meet Chef Jenn Crovato and have her sign your copy of her new book, Olive Oil, Sea Salt & Pepper, available for purchase on site.  Free admission.

10 - Beautiful Music in a Beautiful Space Chamber Music Series at St. George's Episcopal Church, 3 p.m. Sunday. $10 per person; students free.  This week: The St. George Chamber Orchestra 4th Anniversary Concert.
