Battle of Fredericksburg Irish Brigade Walking Tour and Commemorative Ceremony

Events marking the 151st anniversary of the Battle of Fredericksburg.

Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park will hold a special tour and a ceremony to commemorate the 151st anniversary of the Battle of Fredericksburg.  Events will be held on Sunday, Dec. 15, and are free and open to the public.

Park historian Frank O’Reilly accompanied by living historians of the 28th Massachusetts will lead a two-hour, 1.5 mile tour along the route of attack of the Federal Irish Brigade.

The tour begins at 12 p.m. at Fredericksburg City Dock, 207 Sophia St., and concludes at about 2 p.m. at the Kirkland Memorial along Sunken Road.

The park's annual Battle of Fredericksburg Commemorative Event begins at 2 p.m. at the Kirkland Memorial.  Fredericksburg City Councilman Matt Kelly is the featured speaker.  Kelly is also a member of the 28th Massachusetts, Company B, living history unit.
