Downtown Mile Run Saturday in Fredericksburg

Evening run for ages 6 and up will impact traffic for some downtown motorists.

Downtown visitors will get to watch a brief race this Saturday, with The Downtown Mile, hosted by the Fredericksburg Area Running Club.

The event is for runners ages 6 and up, with racers running in age groups. Registration is $15. Online registration ends at 8 a.m. Friday. The race begins at Castiglias, 900 Charles Street. Heats begin at 6 p.m. Registration info.

Packet pick-up is available at Va Runner in Central Park on Friday, 3-7 p.m. and at Castiglias beginning at 4:30 p.m. on race day.

The 900 block of Charles Street will be closed from 3:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. See a race route map from the City of Fredericksburg.

Proceeds will benefit the Rappahannock Area CASA program, according to Fredericksburg Parent and Family. CASA provides support for abused and neglected children in the Fredericksburg area.

The forecast for Saturday is mostly cloudy with a high of 85 degrees.
