First Friday: Ornament Signing, Dog Adoption, 'Kenmore in Snow' and More

The first Friday of each month is a special evening in Fredericksburg.  Downtown art galleries are open late with artist receptions, featuring new exhibits for the next month.  Businesses and restaurants often schedule special events, too.

Here's a sample of what's on tap for First Friday December:

Christine Lush–Rodriguez will be signing her Fredericksburg themed Christmas ornament from 5 - 7 :30 p.m. at Heather Boutique, 721 Caroline St.  The Williamsburg-blue pottery skyline, based on a photo by the artist, is available at the boutique and the Fredericksburg Visitor Center for $27.50.

Meet the dogs of Old Dominion Humane Society from 6 - 8 p.m. at OddBox Studios, 526-1 Wolfe St.  Watch the doggie photo shoot and chat with humane society staff about adoption.

Weadon Studio is hosting a runway show by Carter Hair Design and a Small Works art show.  A portion of the proceeds from sales are going to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Casey Alan Shaw debuts "Kenmore in Snow," a 4' x 3' acrylic on canvas based on a photograph by moi, Susan Larson.  Shaw will be at Art First Gallery, 824 Caroline St., from 6 - 9 p.m.
