The University of Mary Washington is a public, liberal arts college offering undergraduate and graduate degrees. Students can study a wide range of subjects including the arts, sciences, business, education and professional studies. The campus is laid out in a linear fashion on Marnes Heights, and students commute from their residence halls to classes along quiet brick paved walkways (there's virtually no way to drive through campus). UMW was a women's college until 1970, and many of the buildings are named after prominent women of American history.
