Fredericksburg Fire Department To Get New Ambulance With Grant
About 80 percent of the $198,000 truck will be paid for by the state.
The Fredericksburg Fire Department will receive a new ambulance thanks to a state grant that is paying for 80 percent of the cost. Mike Jones, deputy fire chief, said the grant is through the Virginia Office of EMS Rescue Squad Assistance Fund. The ambulance will be in service as Medic 2 for Fire Station 2 at 101 Altoona Dr. The ambulance and equipment will cost about $198,000. The department also bought 20 new Automatic External Defibrillators. "We have been assigning AEDs to the police department for use in their police cruiser and sheriff’s department vehicles so if they arrive first, treatment can be done before the fire department arrival," Jones said.
