Fredericksburg police officers responded to a room at the George Washington Motel May 12 for a report of a deceased female. Family members had come to the motel to check on their relative, and called police when her death was discovered. Investigators determined the death of the 58-year-old woman was not suspicious in nature, police spokesperson Natatia Bledsoe said. On May 15, the investigating detective received information from one of the relatives that the wallet belonging to the deceased was missing, Bledsoe said. Additionally, a fraud investigator from a local bank informed the detective the debit card belonging to the deceased had been used to make purchases at local businesses the day after the victim’s death. PURSE SNATCHING: 600 block Sophia St, 5/14 11:00 p.m. A female employee of a downtown business reported that she was walking to her vehicle when she was approached from behind by a man who grabbed her shoulder bag and ran toward City Dock. Officers responded to the scene and obtained a description of the suspect from the uninjured victim; a K-9 team from the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office also arrived to conduct a track. The K-9 followed a track to the 300 block of Princess Anne Street. Nearby, officers encountered a subject matching the suspect description, and they chased him on foot until he was taken into custody near the intersection of Dixon and Princess Anne Streets. ROBBERY: 100 block Farrell Ln, 5/14 3:00 a.m. Police responded to a home invasion robbery where the three adult residents, a mother and son and a male roommate, reported they were tied up and threatened at gunpoint by multiple assailants. The roommate also told the investigating officers that his vehicle, a 2001 silver Chevrolet Cavalier, had been stolen in Woodbridge around 3 p.m. on May 13, and his cell phone and keys were stolen along with the car. Corretion Made May 14: The arrest of Calvin Taylor has been changed to Calvin Taylor, Jr, 22. The arresting officer chose the wrong Taylor when writing her report. AGGRAVATED ASSAULT: D&B Auto Body, 1919 Princess Anne St, 5/8 5:00 p.m. A 29-year-old Stafford resident reported that he was outside the shop with another man who he described as a slight acquaintance. The victim reported that the two men were talking about cars when without provocation or warning the other man struck him repeatedly in the face and head. Matthew North, 21, of Warrenton, has been arrested for destruction of property for his involvement as the second suspect in the recent downtown vandalism spree, Natatia Bledsoe, Fredericksburg Police spokesperson said. Arthur Washer, 21, of Fredericksburg, was arrested April 28 for destruction of property for the same series of incidents. Fredericksburg Police Officers received reports at 2:30 a.m. April 26 of two male subjects breaking glass in the 900 block of Caroline Street. Police found a trail of destruction leading from the 600 block of Caroline Street, through Market Square, and ending near Hyperion Espresso at William and Princess Anne Streets, according to a FPD release. ATTEMPTED ROBBERY/ASSAULT: 200 block Keavy Ct, 5/3 10:50 p.m. A driver for Virginia Cab reported that after dropping off two male subjects at Crestview Apartments, he got into a dispute with them regarding the exchange of money for the fare. During the argument, one of the subjects pulled out a knife and grabbed the cab driver by the neck, while the second suspect punched him repeatedly in the face. The suspects attempted to get the victim’s wallet, but they were unable to do so, and finally both suspects ran from the scene. Police arrived and found the victim with blood all over his face and clothes; he was transported by ambulance to Mary Washington Hospital for treatment of his head and facial injuries. 400 block Chadwick Ct, 5/2 9:20 p.m. A resident reported that she heard a gunshot and later discovered a bullet hole through the wall of a bedroom on the second floor. The responding officer found the spent round lodged in a wall inside the bedroom closet. The investigation led to a home across the street from the victim and the resident there, Antonio Robinson, 29, was arrested for reckless discharge of a firearm and illegal discharge of a firearm within the city limits. Robinson was incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under a $2500 bond. The weapon was recovered from Robinson’s home and secured for evidence.
