Fredericksburg resident Keith Angstadt shares his love of 'the great days of radio' with a world-wide audience via the Internet.
Keith Angstadt worked in radio his entire career. So when it came to retirement, what would be more natural than starting an Internet radio station. "I wanted to play in radio after retiring from radio," Angstadt told Fredericksburg Patch. "I decided I would go back and recreate the days of radio the way it was when I entered the business in 1961." He began Fredericksburg Network (FredNet) Radio four years ago, and has been digitally streaming 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week to a worldwide audience ever since. The James Monroe High School PTSA will host its charity golf classic April 13 at the Fredericksburg County Club. The shotgun start time is 12 p.m. The format of the tournament is four-player captain's choice. The $100 per player entry fee includes greens fees, cart fees and range balls. The Garrisonville company donated materials and labor to the school's Track and Field team.
Virginia Paving Company's Garrisonville Plant donated materials and labor to improve the shot put area at James Monroe High School. The high school's choir, band and orchestra will perform Dec. 17.
James Monroe High School presents its annual Winter Concert at 7 p.m. Monday in the school auditorium. The Choral Department, Concert Band and Orchestra will each perform. In addition, student artwork will be on display in the library windows. The free concert is open to all.

The Yellow Jackets lost to the Brookville Bees 14 - 24 Saturday.
James Monroe lost to Brookville in the Virginia High School League (VHSL) Group AA Division 3 state final at Liberty University. The Yellow Jackets played tough, but the Bees held onto their lead to previal 24-14. James Monroe finished the 2012 season 12-2. The Yellow Jackets play in Lynchburg at noon Dec. 8.
The James Monroe Yellow Jackets will play the Brookville Bees Saturday in the state football championship. It will be a rematch of last year's state final. The Yellow Jackets qualified for the final by beating the Kettle Run Cougars 37-30 in triple overtime in the Division 3 semifinals last week. Head Coach Richard Serbay called it, "the greatest playoff victory I've had." "Down 10 points with four minutes to go [we] kicked a 42 yard field goal to tie it up with a minute to go. The Yellow Jackets beat Kettle Run in triple overtime.
The James Monroe Yellow Jackets beat the Kettle Run Cougars 37-30 in triple overtime Saturday afternoon at Maury Stadium in the Division 3 semifinals. "This is the greatest playoff victory I've had," Coach Richard Serbay told Patch after the game. The Yellow Jackets led 10-7 at the half, but fell behind 10-14 by the end of the third quarter. At one point in the fourth quarter, the Yellow Jackets were losing 13-20. With just two minutes left in the game, the Jackets tied the game 20-20. "We were a little bit overmatched, and we did not play a good offensive game," Coach Serbay said after the game. But James Monroe won, he said, because of their heart. A win by the Yellow Jackets football team would put them in the state championship for the second consecutive year.
The James Monroe Yellow Jackets face the Kettle Run Cougars at Maury Stadium on Saturday, in a Virginia High School League Division 3 Football Semifinal. Game time is 1 p.m., and admission is $10. James Monroe is 11-1 for the season, according to the team's website. Their only loss was against Chancellor on Nov. 2. The score was 17-20. Coach Richard Serbay said the team's strengths going into Saturday's game are the players' quickness and togetherness. Serbay told the "Nation's Best Sports Show" both teams are solid, and the game is going to be a toss-up. "The difference is gonna be who makes less mistakes," he said. James Monroe won the Division 3 Region 1 championship on Saturday, defeating Park View-South Hill 36 - 0. The Yellow Jackets will face the Kettle Run Cougars of Nokesville at home next Saturday in the state semi-finals. The time of the game is still to be determined. Coach Richard Serbay has coached the Yellow Jackets since 1982, and his teams have won four state championships. The last was in 2008. In 2011, James Monroe was up by two points in the state championship, with less than two minutes to play, when Brookville High School kicked a game-winning field goal.
