Those interested in playing football for James Monroe High School next year can attend a 3 p.m. meeting on June 4.
James Monroe High School students interested in playing football next year are being asked to attend a 3 p.m. June 4 meeting in the lecture hall. Anyone with questions can contact Coach Jonathan Phipps, Coach Kenton Griffin or Coach Richard Serbay at 540-372-1100. There is also a golf interest meeting at 3 p.m. on May 30 in the James Monroe High School health room with Coach Serbay.

The candidate for U.S. Senate and former Virginia governor will answer questions in Dulles at AOL this Thursday. George Allen, Kaine's likely challenger, spoke at AOL May 4.
Tim Kaine, the Democratic candidate for the open Virginia U.S. Senate seat, will appear at the AOL campus in Dulles Thursday at 1 p.m. to speak with AOL employees and other guests. George Allen, a former U.S. Senator and former Virginia governor, appeared at AOL May 4, and Patch covered the forum, asked questions submitted by readers and invited a few readers to join the program. Parents and students can attend an informational meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 14 in the James Monroe High School Library for Germanna Community College's new Automotive Technician Career Studies Certification course. Juniors and seniors can register for the courses now.

Virgina Wine Experience hosts its weekly wine tastings tonight.
Feel like tasting wine tonight? It's the only night this week at Virginia Wine Experience. The wine tasting is every Friday and a new group of wines is offered. The featured wine also can be purchased at a discounted rate. The event begins at 5:30 and ends at 8:30 p.m. Virginia Wine Experience is at 826 Caroline St. in the heart of downtown Fredericksburg.

She and her roommate Cathy work side-by-side as they assemble baseball cards and various other donated items from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday each week. Janine is a participant in the Rappahannock Area Community Services Board’s Supervised Apartment Program. While Janine and the other individuals in the program have intellectual disabilities, they are active members of our community. Not only does Janine work and live largely on her own—she also has to pay taxes. There are only three dates left to get free tax preparation through the Rappahannock United Way at the Central Rappahannock Regional Library at 1201 Caroline St. If you make less than $50,000 a year, you are eligible for free tax preparation. From January 17 to April 17, trained volunteers will help you file your tax returns. Visit this website or call (540) 373-0041 ext. 316 for more information.
