Woodford Street House Fire Cause 'Undetermined'

The fire marshal said the fire appears to have been accidental. No one was seriously injured, but a cat and dog did die in the house fire.

Fredericksburg Fire Department spokesman Mike Jones said today that the cause of a house fire at 604 Woodford St. early Wednesday morning is officially being listed as "undetermined" because of the amount of contents in the home and the damage. Jones said the fire marshal has interviewed the homeowner and determined that there does not appear to be anything in the debris burn pattern or the contents that would lead him to believe the fire was suspicious in nature and that the fire appears to have been an accident. Fire fighters and medics responded to the home in Normandy Village after a neighbor across the street called 911 at about 4:25 a.m. Fire fighters found heavy fire and smoke coming from the one-story 1950s home, Jones said.
