After a hectic few hectic days last month when she got a lease termination letter, owner Chrissy Gibbs' hourly childcare business remained in the Spotsylvania Towne Centre.
Wiggle Worms is open for business in the Spotsylvania Towne Centre, but in a different location that is in the connector hallway for the food court and Le Gourmet Chef. Owner Chrissy Gibbs thought last month that she was going to have to close business when she got a lease termination letter from company that owns the mall, the Cafaro Company. But word got out quick that the hourly childcare center was in jeopardy and parents who use the services joined forces to protest in the mall. One parent even created a "Save Wiggle Worms" Facebook page. Later that day, Cafaro Company announced that it was moving Wiggle Worms from its original location to the 1,700-square-foot space once occupied by Macy's. Gibbs said she has about half the space …

An Apple Retail Store at the Spotsylvania Towne Centre? They've certainly tried to get the popular retailer to come.
Apple Stores are some of the most popular retail stores in the country, yet the shopping mecca of Fredericksburg has yet to be able to reel one in. That doesn't mean no one has tried. Some places are even giving Apple Stores free rent to persuade them to move in. Joe Bell, director of corporate communications for Spotsylvania Towne Centre owners The Cafaro Cos., said agents in the company's real estate department have had discussions with Apple in recent years. "One interesting thing I've learned is that Apple has its own systematic timetable for rolling out stores in various markets," he said. "Where does Fredericksburg fit in that plan? Hard to say." What do you think? Should Fredericksburg have an Apple Store? Vote in the poll and make …

Earlier in the day a group of parents protested the towne centre's decision to terminate Wiggle Worms' lease at the 4,200-square-foot space they utilize now near Costco. The parents' wishes, and Wiggle Worms' co-owner Chrissy Gibbs' hopes, were answered less than six hours later. Joe Bell, director of corporate communications for the mall owner Cafaro Cos., said Wiggle Worms will move after June 22 to space near Macy’s and the Spotsylvania Conference Center. Bell said the move is necessary because several new retailers are coming to the Spotsylvania Towne Centre and several merchants will be shifting …

If you're driving the speed limit, the project's goal is to have motorists drive past as many intersections without getting a red light.
The Virginia Department of Transportation has timed the traffic signals on Rt. 3 to help relieve some of the gridlock on one of the Fredericksburg area's busiest highways. "For drivers traveling at the speed limit, the goal is to move through as many intersections as possible without a stop once you traveling are on Route 3," said VDOT spokeswoman Kelly Hannon. The signal timing patterns started on Jan. 23 along Rt. 3 form Interstate 95 west to Chewning Lane in Spotsylvania County. The changes will also improve access to the Spotsylvania Towne Centre, where this is often a backlog of vehicles trying to enter the mall from Rt. 3. Hannon said an average of 86,000 vehicles a day travel on eastbound and westbound Route 3 between Interstate 95…
