One lane will be closed on I-95 during VDOT's routine inspection Monday and Tuesday.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) bridge inspection team will be inspecting the Route 632 (Cedon Road) bridge over I-95 in Caroline County on Feb. 25 and 26. During the routine bridge inspection one lane on I-95 and on Cedon Road will be closed to traffic, VDOT said. The lane closure will be in place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. both days. The inspection will impact traffic on the I-95 north on Monday, Feb. 25, and on I-95 south on Tuesday, Feb. 26. The Route 632 bridge over I-95 is located between Exit 118 (Rt. 606/Thornburg) in Spotsylvania County and Exit 110 (Rt. 639/Ladysmith) in Caroline County. Route 637 (Telegraph Road) in Stafford County will be closed to all traffic next week between Route 1 and Route 639 (Woodstock Lane) so workers can relocate a water line, Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) reports. The road will be closed at about 9 a.m. Monday and will remain closed until about 5 p.m. Friday, March 1. Telegraph Road intersects with Route 1 at two locations. The Fredericksburg ramp is being closed to enable cleanup following the Jan. 31 tractor trailer crash.
The northbound Interstate 95 exit ramp to westbound Route 3 at Fredericksburg is closing Monday night and early Tuesday morning, VDOT reported. Exit 130B will be closed from 10 p.m. Monday until 4 a.m. Tuesday. Motorists on northbound I-95 are encouraged to take Exit 126/Spotsylvania to Route 1 north to reach Route 3 westbound. A contractor will be cleaning residual material from the Jan. 31 tractor-trailer crash on the ramp. I-95 Traveler Alert (New) On Tuesday, Feb. 12, just after midnight, all traffic on I-95 north and south at mile marker 147 located near Exit 148 (Marine Corps Base Quantico) will be stopped intermittently for up to 15 minutes at a time for utility work. The closures will take place between midnight and 4 a.m. To avoid delays northbound motorists are urged to exit I-95 at Exit 143 (Route 610/Garrisonville) in Stafford County and southbound motorists should exit at Exit 150 (Joplin Road) in Prince William County to access Route 1 north and south. The northbound I-95 ramp to Route 3 westbound in Fredericksburg reopened to traffic at about 1 p.m.
Exit ramp 130B from northbound Interstate 95 to Route 3 westbound was closed for several hours Thursday, due to a tractor-trailer crash involving a fuel spill, VDOT said. The ramp was reopened at about 1 p.m. No one was injured in the accident. Delegate John Cox, R-Ashland, one of the delegates who signed the letter, believes that placing tolls on I-95, as the Virginia Department of Transportation has proposed, is not the best option for increasing road revenue. “Tolls are a tax that is imposed disproportionately. VDOT crews will patrol the Fredericksburg District for icy conditions
With temperatures expected to remain below freezing overnight, Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews will remain on duty to monitor conditions and treat roads in the Fredericksburg District, VDOT said in a press release. Crews and hired forces are also expected to remain mobilized Friday morning in advance of the afternoon's predicted inclement weather. "Motorists should proceed with caution, especially on secondary roads where sections of snow, ice or slush remain," VDOT said.
