Woodford Street House Fire Cause 'Undetermined'

The fire marshal said the fire appears to have been accidental. No one was seriously injured, but a cat and dog did die in the house fire.

Fredericksburg Fire Department spokesman Mike Jones said today that the cause of a house fire at 604 Woodford St. early Wednesday morning is officially being listed as "undetermined" because of the amount of contents in the home and the damage. Jones said the fire marshal has interviewed the homeowner and determined that there does not appear to be anything in the debris burn pattern or the contents that would lead him to believe the fire was suspicious in nature and that the fire appears to have been an accident. Fire fighters and medics responded to the home in Normandy Village after a neighbor across the street called 911 at about 4:25 a.m. Fire fighters found heavy fire and smoke coming from the one-story 1950s home, Jones said. Two Hospitalized In Normandy Village House Fire

One person remains in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries from a house fire at 604 Woodford St. early Tuesday morning. A dog died in the blaze.

One person remains in the hospital Wednesday after an early-morning house fire gutted 604 Woodford St. and ignited a portion of the next-door neighbor's house near the roof. Fredericksburg Fire Department spokesman Mike Jones said the 911 call came in Wednesday at 4:25 a.m. for an active fire at 604 Woodford St. Units found fire coming out from an area that used to be a garage and a front bay window. "There was a large volume of fire in this structure when we got here," he said. Fire fighters had to knock holes in the roof to extinguish fire in the ventilation systems and to remove contents from an attic. The Fredericksburg Fire Dept does an amazing job and deserve a lot of credit for what they do. But, folks, don't forget there were two (2) requests each for $20,000 for 2013 budgetary funding before the City Manager.
