Stafford Teen Pleads Guilty To Murdering Mom
18-year-old Ashleigh N. Dye pleaded guilty today in Stafford County Circuit Court to first-degree murder and using a gun in the commission of a felony.
Stafford County teenager Ashleigh N. Dye faces life in prison after she pleaded guilty today to murdering her mother Brenda Dye in July. In Stafford County Circuit Court, Ashleigh Dye also pleaded guilty to using a firearm in the commission of a felony. Brenda Dye, who was 62, was found dead in her home on Perry Drive in Falmouth on July 5. She was shot with a shotgun and stabbed. Her daughter was 17 at the time of the murder. Eddie Chewning, 19, who was dating Ashleigh Dye, was charged as an accomplice but his trial has not been scheduled. Police were able to solve the crime after discovering a series of text messages sent by both Ashleigh Dye and Chewning in which they discussed the murder plan. Ashleigh Dye will be sentenced April 20. …
