Fredericksburg Police say suspects have been identified and the investigation is ongoing.
Downtown vandals wreaked havoc on three blocks of downtown Fredericksburg early Friday morning, according to Fredericksburg City Police. Officers received reports at 2:30 a.m. of two male subjects breaking glass in the 900 block of Caroline Street, according to FCPD spokesperson Natatia L. Bledsoe. "They found a trail of destruction leading from the 600 block, through Market Square, and ending near Hyperion Espresso at William and Princess Anne Streets," according to a FCPD release. Windows were shattered at 829 Caroline Street and 106 George Street, along with broken sidewalk benches and planters, trees pulled from the ground and damaged downspouts, according to Bledsoe. Part of national drive to allow anonymous drop-off for unwanted prescriptions.
Fredericksburg Police Department is participating in the national DEA Drug Take-Back Initiative from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 27. Individuals may safely and anonymously drop off your unused and unwanted prescription medications at Police Headquarters, 2200 Cowan Blvd, Fire Station 1 on Princess Anne Street or the Tomkins-Martin building at Mary Washington Hospital. Disposing of your medications in this way helps to keep potentially harmful narcotics out of the hands of children and abusers.

The bills passed initial inspection by cashiers, according to Fredericksburg Police.
Fredericksburg Police detectives are investigating at least two cases this week where counterfeit bills were used at area stores. The manager at the A.C. Moore on Carl D. Dilver Pkwy reported Tuesday morning that an unknown man had used a counterfeit bill to pay for his purchase. Two hours later, the owner of Tropical Smoothie on Central Park Blvd. told police that an unknown man had used a counterfeit bill at his business. Police believe the two cases are related. In both cases, the counterfeit currency passed the initial testing by the cashier, according to police spokesperson Natatia Bledsoe.
