5 Arrested for Using Counterfeit Currency at Target

Target, 1180 Carl D Silver Pkwy, 8/31 11:15 a.m. Police responded to the store for a report of subjects passing counterfeit currency. A loss prevention officer provided information regarding two separate incidents of fraudulent activity involving a total of three males and two females, one of whom was accompanied by a child.


The Target employee was able to give descriptions of the adult suspects and an associated vehicle described as a white minivan with out-of-state license plates.

At approximately 1:15 p.m., officers located the minivan in the parking lot of Outback Steakhouse, and the five adult suspects and two children were found eating at a table inside. The suspects, all from Atlanta, Ga., were detained and subsequently charged with the following:

  • Danta Jones, 36, arrested for conspiracy to utter counterfeit notes, conspiracy to possess counterfeit notes, and conspiracy to obtain money by false pretenses.
  • Kenneth Sanders, 46, arrested for uttering counterfeit notes, possession of counterfeit notes, two counts of obtaining money by false pretenses, conspiracy to utter counterfeit notes, and conspiracy to possess counterfeit notes.
  • Marvin McDaniel, 31, arrested for uttering counterfeit notes, possession of counterfeit notes, two counts of obtaining money by false pretenses, conspiracy to utter counterfeit notes, and conspiracy to possess counterfeit notes.
  • Bridgette Harvey, 31, arrested for possession of counterfeit notes, attempting to utter counterfeit notes, conspiracy to possess counterfeit notes, and conspiracy to utter counterfeit notes.
  • Chicaone Hollis, 33, arrested for possession of cocaine, two counts of uttering counterfeit notes, possession of counterfeit notes, obtaining money by false pretenses, conspiracy to utter counterfeit notes, and conspiracy to possess counterfeit notes, and conspiracy to obtain money by false pretenses.

All of the suspects were incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond. The two children, ages 8 and 10, were turned over to Child Protective Services for emergency placement. The investigation is ongoing.
