Bomb Threat at Spotsylvania Towne Center

The threat was allegedly made by a man calling into one of the stores.

Spotsylvania Towne Centre was evacuated at 6:18 p.m. Friday when a man called the Charlotte Russe women's clothing store claiming there was a bomb somewhere in the mall.

"My daughter, who works there, called a few minutes ago to tell me that they have evacuated the mall because of a bomb threat," a Fredericksburg Patch reader said.

Law enforcement K-9 units searched inside the mall and its outside perimeter, but found no devices, Capt. Jeff Pearce of the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office said.

The mall reopened at 9 p.m.  The investigation is ongoing.
