Customer Attacked Outside 7-Eleven on Dixon Street

A Fredericksburg resident was allegedly beat up by a group of four or five men.

Fredericksburg Police responded to the 7-Eleven at 1613 Dixon St. about 1:15 p.m. January 17, and found a 26-year-old city resident with multiple facial injuries.

The victim told police a group of four or five males approached him inside the store, then surrounded him just outside the door to the business and punched him repeatedly in the face and head.  He was transported to Mary Washington Hospital.

"It is unknown at this time what prompted the assault," said police spokesperson Natatia Bledsoe.

A warrant has been obtained against Deontay Washington, 21, of Fredericksburg, charging him with malicious wounding by mob, Bledsoe said.

The investigation is ongoing to determine the identities of the other individuals involved in the assault.
