Woman Released from Jail to Have an Abortion Flys the Coop

Kristy Lechelle Cokley, who also goes by Kristy Lechelle Eura, has charges pending in four localities.

A woman released on bond in September in order to have an abortion is now at large.

The Stafford County Sheriff's Office issued a release on Nov. 6 asking for the public's assistance locating Kristy Lechelle Cokley, 28, of Fredericksburg.  The woman also goes by Kristy Lechelle Eura.

"Cokley is wanted in Stafford County for her failure to appear in Stafford County Circuit Court after the court had allowed her to be out on bond for a medical procedure," Bill Kennedy, Stafford County Sheriff’s Office public information officer, said.

Cokley was arrested Aug. 29 by the Stafford Sheriff's Office on charges allegeding she stole more than $500 worth of clothes from the T.J. Maxx in Stafford Marketplace.  She was incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

A Stafford County judge released Cokley on bond Sept. 26 in order for her to have an abortion.  She was to return to court on Oct. 3. 

At the time of her August arrest in Stafford County, Cokley was out on bond for charges in Spotsylvania County, which included manufacturing illegal drugs, possession of a firearm while in possession of illegal drugs and possessing a firearm as a felon, the Free Lance-Star reported.

On Thursday, Nov. 7, a judge in Caroline County issued a warrant for Cokley, based on her disappearance in Stafford County.  Cokley was convicted in Caroline County in 2010 of four felony counts of forgery, according to the Free Lance-Star. She was sentenced to 12 years in prison with all but 10 months suspended, and placed on indefinite probation.

Cokley is also wanted in the City of Fredericksburg, Kennedy said.
