Fredericksburg Woman Dies in Grand Canyon

A Fredericksburg woman who died while hiking in Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona has been identified as Sibylle Borger, 48, of Fredericksburg.

She had been in a group of five people hiking the backcountry, according to The Associated Press.

About 3:30 p.m. Sunday, officials received an emergency call about an unconscious hiker just above Phantom Ranch on the South Kaibab Trail, the AP reported.

Park rangers began CPR on the woman, the AP said, but resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.

The Coconino County Medical Examiner's Office is investigating along with National Park Service officials.
