Investigators at Mystery Crime Scene on Belle Plains Road for Sixth Day (Photos)

Dennis Paul Benzie was arrested Friday on drug charges; the property in Stafford County is still an active crime scene.

A Stafford County Sherriff's car and a Search and Rescue (SAR) truck were among the few vehicles visible at 881 Belle Plains Rd. Wednesday afternoon. Maj. David Decatur, a Stafford Sheriff's spokesperson, indicated Tuesday that the address is an ongoing active crime scene.

Dennis Paul Benzie was arrested Friday on drug charges, after the Stafford Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at the property. He is being held without bond in Rappahannock Regional Jail on drug and fire arms charges, Decatur said.

Decatur told Patch that Benzie was arrested at his residence. The owner of the house and just over 3.4 acres at 881 Belle Plains Road is Sheila Ann Benzie, according to land records at the Stafford Court House.

Sheila Ann Benzie died on January 11, 2013, according to her obituary at Covenant Funeral Service. A Dennis Benzie is listed as her surviving husband.

A Deed of Gift for 841 Belle Plains Rd. is recorded at the Stafford County Courthouse. On Oct. 15, 2009, Wesley E. Salvador and Yvonne H. Salvador gifted that property to Sheila Benzie. Wesley Salvador, according to Sheila Benzie's obituary, is Mrs. Benzie's father.

The property at 841 Belle Plains Rd. is adjacent to 881 Belle Plains Rd., and law enforcement have been seen in both driveways by neighbors and Patch.

A Stafford County trailer has been parked in the 841 driveway since Saturday, when neighbors report seeing a back hoe brought to the scene. The trailer was still there Wednesday afternoon.

Both Benzie properties are on the north side of Belle Plains Road, between the intersection at Old Creekside Road and the Belle Plains Boat Club on Potomac Creek at the east end of Belle Plains Road.

The area is a mixture of farm land, simple houses and elegant homes, bordered by wood land and Potomac Creek, a tidal tributary of the Potomac River.
