Local Law Enforcement Host National Night Out Events
The Stafford and Spotsylvania Sheriff's Departments are hosting National Night Out family events August 6, 2013.
August 6 marks the 19 annual National Night Out campaign against crime.
The Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Department is hosting National Night Out from 5 - 9 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of the Cosner Corner Target, 9785 Jefferson Davis Hwy.
"This year’s event will be bigger than ever with over one hundred participants," Sheriff Roger Harris said. There will be food and activities, and kids will be able to explore a police car, ambulance and fire truck.
“Knowing your neighbors and knowing the Sheriff’s Office are the best first steps toward deterring crime," Sheriff Harris said.
The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Aquia Harbour Volunteer Rescue Squad, is hosting an event from 6 - 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Stafford Market Place Target, 1090 Stafford Market Place. There will be numerous family fun activities, with 100 different vendors, community organizations and businesses participating.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
The nationwide event is coordinated by the National Association of Town Watch, and is sponsored each year by Target stores and the U.S. Department of Justice Bureau.
