Missing Md. Woman Safe in Spotsylvania

Teresa Lentz never returned home after leaving at noon June 19 to run errands.

Teresa Lentz, the Frederick, Md. woman missing since June 19, was "safely recovered" by Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Deputies Tuesday night, Capt. Jeffery Pearce, Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, said in an early Wednesday morning email.

Lentz, 49, left home to run errands at about noon last Wednesday, according to the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.

"The family became worried later in the afternoon when she did not come home and could not be reached," The Frederic News-Pilot reported.  Lentz’s husband John said he last spoke with her by phone at about 1:30 p.m. June 19.

At about 6:30 that night, Teresa’s daughter Shawna Lentz went looking for her mother.   "She found her mother’s blue Ford Expedition at about 9:45 p.m. parked near railroad tracks along Reel’s Mill Road," The Frederic News-Pilot said. "Teresa Lentz’s cellphone and keys were still inside the SUV, which was in running order."

Teresa Lentz is in police custody, and Spotsylvania County is assisting Frederick County Sheriff’s detectives with the investigation, Pearce said.
