Police: Arrest Made in Rape of Fredericksburg Woman

Where an arrest is mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

City of Fredericksburg Police have charged a Bolling Green man with the rape of a woman in Fredericksburg.

The incident occurred on July 20, when a Fredericksburg woman in her 20s had two men visiting her at home, police spokesperson Natatia Bledsoe said. "One of the men was an acquaintance she had known for several years, the other she had just met," Bledsoe said.  The three were allegedly drinking when the woman lost consciousness.

"When she woke up in the morning, the two men were gone and she knew physically something was wrong," Bledsoe said.  Articles of her clothing had been cut and items from her home were missing.  The woman sought medical attention that day, and police first interviewed her in the hospital, Bledsoe said.

The victim provided enough information for police to obtain a grand larceny search warrant for the missing items.

"Fredericksburg Police served the search warrant on July 30 at a Spotsylvania home associated with one of the suspects," Bledsoe said.  Nathan Mann, the woman's acquaintance, was charged with grand larceny and taken into custody.

Police received information on the whereabouts of the second suspect, Joshua Wormley, and arrested him later the same day on the grand larceny search warrant, Bledsoe said.

According to court documents, Wormley later provided information which enabled police to obtain a second search warrant to collect his DNA.

"During the course of the investigation, the second suspect was charged with rape," Bledsoe said.  He is being held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on charges of rape and grand larceny with no bond.

Nathan Mann was charged with grand larceny and released on $2,000 secured bond.

Police are investigating the possibility that the woman was drugged without her knowledge, Bledsoe said.
