Police Seeking Suspects in Aggravated Assault on Cowan Blvd.

Two brothers were attacked on Cowan Blvd. at Route 1, police report.

Two local men reported an aggravated assault and brandishing of a firearm that occurred on Cowan Boulevard at the intersection with Jefferson Davis Highway, Natatia Bledsoe, Fredericksburg Police spokesperson, said.

Two brothers, 18 and 20 years old, told police that they were approaching the intersection in the right lane at 11:15 p.m. June 26 when they noticed the passenger in a silver sedan, similar to a Ford Taurus, in the left lane next to them trying to get their attention, Bledsoe said.

When both vehicles were stopped, the passenger from the silver car got out of his vehicle and began yelling at the 20-year-old victim, who had exited from the driver’s seat of his vehicle because he thought the occupants of the other car were trying to alert him to a problem.

A fight ensued in the roadway, and the driver of the silver car also got out and brandished a handgun. The armed man then assaulted the victim by striking him several times in the head with the gun, Bledsoe said..

The victim’s 18-year-old brother reported that when he got out of the passenger seat to help his brother, the driver of the silver car threw an unknown object at him.

The two brothers jumped back in their car and drove southbound on Jefferson Davis Highway before pulling over a short time later to call 911.

The assailants also left the immediate area.

The 20-year-old victim had a laceration above one eye and other injuries consistent with his account of the assault. He was treated by EMS personnel at the scene.

Suspect #1, the driver, was a male in his 20s described as either Hispanic or Asian, with straight shoulder length dark hair and an earring in one ear. He was approximately 5’8” – 5’10” with a thin build and a pronounced Adam’s apple.

Suspect #2, the passenger, was a Caucasian male in his 20s with light colored short hair and a light scruffy beard. He was approximately 5’10” – 6’ with a heavyset build and also wore one earring.
