Friesner Announces Candidacy for Fredericksburg City Council

The Fredericksburg Planning Commission chairman is running in Ward 3.

Richard Friesner, chairman of the Fredericksburg Planning Commission, has announced his candidacy for Ward 3 representative on City Council.

Fredericksburg City Council is composed of a mayor and six council members.

The mayor and two council members are elected at-large. The remaining four council members are each elected to represent one of four wards.  All serve four-year, staggered terms, with elections held every two years in May.

The four ward seats will be elected in 2014.  They are currently held by:

  • Ward 1 - Vice Mayor Brad Ellis
  • Ward 2 - George Solley
  • Ward 3 - Fred Howe
  • Ward 4 - Bea Paolucci
The current terms of Mayor Mary Katherine Greenlaw and at-large representatives Matt Kelly and Kerry Devine run through June 30, 2016.

Friesner is currently serving his first term on the Planning Commission.  His term expires Oct. 31, 2014.
