VRE Prepares for Government Shutdown

VRE to operate normal morning schedule, make adjustments as the day unfolds.

Virginia Railway Express (VRE) has been watching the Congressional countdown to shutdown.  Federal workers may be paid for four hours Tuesday -- if a shutdown is in effect -- giving them time to go into the office and secure their work.

VRE issued this statement late Monday.

"Many of our riders are asking if we are running full service tomorrow, October 1, and the answer is yes.

Once morning service is done, we will look at how many riders came in and then make a determination if we need to move up the bigger train sets to accommodate a possible rush of early afternoon commuters.

While train sets may be moved around tomorrow, we cannot modify the train schedule October 1. Any decisions made about service on October 2 will be made tomorrow and we will let riders know ASAP.

Thank you for your patience and as always, thanks for riding VRE."
