Yellow Jackets Win, Head to Semi-Finals
James Monroe High School advances after win over Kettle Run.
James Monroe (8-4) is heading to the state semi-finals against Lafayette (12-0) in Williamsburg on Nov. 30.
The Yellow Jackets earned the spot with their 6-3 win over Kettle Run in the quarter-final game at Maury Stadium on Nov. 22.
"We live to fight another day," said Coach Serbay in an interview with Nation's Best Football after the game. "We played great defense. We played a great second half."

"Our schedule was the toughest I've had here in the last ten years," Serbay said. "This [advancing to the semi-finals] is a great reward for us."
Lafayette is undefeated for the season. "They're very good; they're awesome," Serbay said. "It's David and Goliath. It's gonna be a tough one, but we're in it. That's all that matters is we're in it. And we have a chance."
Saturday's game is at 2 p.m. at Warner Stadium, 4725 Stadium Rd., in Williamsburg.
