Man Pulled from River Identified

The man pulled from the Rappahannock River Wednesday afternoon has been identified as Jose Hernandez, age 56, of Fredericksburg, Stafford Sheriff's Office spokesman Bill Kennedy said.

"On July 10 at approximately 3 p.m. two citizens who were walking along the bank of the Rappahannock River in the vicinity of Old Mill Park in Fredericksburg spotted the body of Mr. Hernandez floating in the area where they were walking," Kennedy said.  The two people pulled the body to the shore and called 9-1-1. 

Mr. Hernandez' body has been taken to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Richmond to determine the cause of death, Kennedy said.  Mr. Hernandez was last seen by family members on July 4.
