July 4 River Raft Race Postponed

The Jaycee's River Raft Race will now be held July 20.

The 37th annual Rappahannock River Raft Race, originally scheduled for the Fourth of July, has been postponed due to forecasted unsafe river conditions, the Fredericksburg Jaycees announced.

The race has been rescheduled for Saturday, July 20.

Those who did not register by the July 1 pre-registration deadline may still participate.  Complete a registration form and bring it Falmouth Waterfront Park on July 20.  The park is located off River Road adjacent to the Falmouth Bridge in Stafford.

The cost for registration is $35 for individuals, $50 for clubs and organizations and $65 for commercial entities.

Rafts will be judged by a panel of Jaycees, with prizes awarded for Most Patriotic, Huck Finn, Commercial Huck Finn, Fastest Down the River and We Didn't Think We Would Make It But. . .. 

The race begins at 11:30 a.m. at Falmouth Waterfront Park and ends about 4:30 p.m. at City Dock, 207 Sophia St., Fredericksburg.
