Your July 4th Guide to Events In and Near Fredericksburg

What may be the biggest celebration of the summer is only days away.  Time to plan!  That's easy in the Fredericksburg region.  There are many Independence Day activities and events from which to choose.  Click the hyperlinks for more information.

Fredericksburg's July 4 Heritage Festival

  • Thursday, July 4, 6:30 a.m. - 10 p.m.
  • 7:45 a.m. Heritage Festival Five-Mile Run. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. at the Fredericksburg Visitor Center
  • 9:30 a.m. Heritage Day Parade 
  • 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Street Festival, Craft Show and Antique Car Show
  • 11:30 a.m. The Rappahannock River Raft Race (Postponed)
  • 4:30 - 10 p.m. Pratt Park opens for the July 4th Spectacular, featuring free children's activities, concerts and the fireworks.  Click the hyperlink above for complete details of the day's events.

Fabulous 4th at George Washington`s Ferry Farm

  • Thursday, July 4,  10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Interact with interpreters completing 18th-century tasks. Enjoy games, crafts music and food. See the complete schedule of activities.
  • Admission is $1 per person; children under age 2, free.
  • Free parking will be available at the Eagle's Lodge on Cold Spring Road, with frequent shuttles to Ferry Farm. Handicapped parking will be available at Ferry Farm.
Culpeper's 4th of July Celebration
  • Thursday, July 4, 6:45 a.m. - 10 p.m.
  • 8 a.m. Freedom 5K Race Begins
  • 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Youth Soccer and Little League
  • 10 - 11 a.m. Indogpendence Day Walk
  • 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. 14th annual Renaissance Car and Bike Show.  This year the cars of American Graffiti will be prominently displayed at the depot, and you can walk along historic Davis and Commerce streets to view all types of classic and modified vehicles.  Registration for participants is from 8- 10 a.m. Judging begins at 10 a.m. and the Awards Presentation starts at 2:30 p.m. 
  • 12 - 2 p.m. The State Theatre of Culpeper will offer a special showing of American Graffiti for only $4.  To purchase tickets in advance visit www.culpepertheatre.org 
  • 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. The Museum of Culpeper History and The Burgandine House will be open.
  • Noon Patriotic program featuring the reading of the Declaration of Independence and patriotic songs by the Blue Ridge Chorale.
  • 4 p.m. Independence Day Main Street Parade.
  • 5:30 p.m. Dinner, hayrides, entertainment and the Culpeper Olympics
  • 9:15 p.m. Fireworks!

14th Annual Independence Day Celebration in Historic Port Royal

  • Thursday, July 4, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
  • Historic Port Royal's celebration of America's independence will include a dramatic reading of the Declaration of Independence, an 18th century dance demonstration by the Rappahannock Colonial Heritage Society, a patriotic organ recital at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, a Civil War living history encampment, surrey rides, kid's games, a silent auction and food.
  • Admission is free.
Massad Family YMCA All American 4th of July: Rock the Fourth
  • Thursday, July 4, 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.
  • Admission is $60 for a family of four (members); $70 for nonmembers.
  • Your ticket includes parking, water park entry, dinner, live music, carnival style games, pool games, prizes and great views of the fireworks. Raffles and auctions will include a water park season pass!
  • Dinner served 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
  • Waterpark will stay open until the parking lot is clear.
  • No coolers or alcohol allowed.
  • Lawn chairs are permitted.
